The worst dining out experience ever. My partner, myself & our baby went to the Bureau, Shore Rd, Newtownabbey, for Sunday dinner. We were seated at a table, which was quite grubby, appearing not to have been cleaned from the previous diners. After ordering our drinks my partner left the table for a moment. A few moments later our baby cried & about 2 minutes after that I was approached by a waiter who said we would have to move as the baby’s crying would annoy the other customers. I asked him to repeat what he just said as I could not believe what I was hearing & he did so. The customers at the table next to me were shocked by this and said, “don’t move, I wouldn’t give them the pleasure.” However feeling humiliated I did not feel I could stay & left. The next day I telephoned to speak to the manager regarding our experience. A female, who claimed to be from ‘human resources’, took the details and said she would forward this on to the manager. I asked when I could expect the call & she said she was unsure but he would be in sometime that night. To date he has not called. We will definitely not be returning to the Bureau! From other comments I have read on this website rudeness and lack of customer care are a trait of this bar / restaurant. I would not advise anyone to go there, especially if you have a young child.
This has to be one of the worst places in or around the city of belfast! I found the staff to be obnoxious & arrogant with very little knowledge of the food/wine they were serving. After waiting for our drinks order to be taken for what seemed like a lifetime (the place was basically empty!) & then a further age for the drinks to arrive, we decided to order some food. My partner ordered pan fried salmon with dauphinoise potatoes, with sugar snap peas. What arrived on the plate can only be described as an absolute joke! The pan fried salmon was completely overcooked & a measly portion at that & the dauphinoise potatoes were sliced undercooked potatoes built in a stack, held together with a little bit of cream. Now I'm no Gordon Ramsey, but this doesn't constitute a meal!! When my partner informed her waiter that she was not happy with the dish, the attitude was basically "Well what do you want me to do about it?" My partner was very annoyed & she explained that the dish was completely dried out, the pototoes didn't even resemble dauphinoise in the slightest & that she would like to speak to the manager. After much huffing & puffing the waiter left to speak with the manager & came back approx. 10 minutes later to tell us that he was too busy to speak to us (bearing in mind there were approx. 10 people in the restaurant & the manager was nowhere to be seen!!) When we said that we would not be happy paying for the dish ( we wern't at any stage offered a replacement!) he again left returning 5 minutes later saying " The chefs wants to know do you know what dauphonoise potatoes are?" We explained to the waiter what dauphonoise potatoes actually consist of, rather than the pathetic excuse for a dish the chef had served up! To me this was the final insult from a team of undertrained, rude & inattentive idiots, so we promptly put on our coats & left, vowing never to return. Bring back the old "Jordie" (Jordanstown Inn)- at least the staff were friendly & not pretentious!!
Oh, by the way the one saving grace was that they knew how to cook the sugar snap peas!!!
Joshua,Every respectable licensed premises have a tattoo policy in place, no matter what the tattoo is, usually if it is visable it is to be covered, this ranges from clubs, such as box and beach club, to pothouse, to restaurants such as james street south, cayenne, tony romasBureau operates as every other restaurant would, and it is better to withhold ur door policies than bend on them, few unhappy customers is something that has to be accepted by all bars/ restaurants
If reference to Bob, most bars in town do not follow your tattoo policy. People have moved on and it's about time bar managers like yourself moved with the times. Tattoo's are more popular than ever, I am sure you would make exceptions if someone famous came through your doors displaying some fancy tattoo artwork.Pure and simple, you are trying to be something your not, and from the reviews I have seen on numerous websites, your bar is on a downward spiral!
